The original benefactors were trying to help the poor of Southall and Norwood Green through an almshouse charity and helping with schooling.
Objects of the Fund
Awarding to beneficiaries: scholarships, bursaries or maintenance allowances tenable at any school, university, or other place of learning approved by the trustees. Providing financial assistance, clothing, tools, instruments or books to help beneficiaries on leaving school, a university or any other educational establishment to prepare for, or to enter, a profession, trade or calling.
Activities of the Fund
One-off grants are given to assist in education, fees, living expenses or travel abroad to those living in the London Borough of Ealing. Preference is given to those who have not reached the age of 25 and who live in Southall or Norwood Green.
How do I apply for the grant?
The application form for the Francis Courtney grant accepts applications annually between 1st of June and 31st of August.
