Officer in the foreground with enlisted hussars on a patrol wearing their pelisses in cool mountainous country. . A point of interest in this figure is that the surcoat has two openings through which the chains pass to their fastening over the breast; it is plain to see that they are fixed to the mail of the hauberk not to a solid breastplate or coat of plates; this weakens the theory that where breast chains appear, a solid foundation to secure them is implied. . Shields are kite-shaped but shorter, held by enarmes (D and I) and sometimes supported by guiges (I, L, P and Q). . The bottom of the sleeve was folded back over to reveal the lining, which formed a right-angled facing. . These parts consist of a) two plates of the characteristic shape which indicates that they had been attached on the breast between the shoulders (3, 4); b) eight whole or rather large pieces and several minor fragments of broad plates about 7-5-9 cm. .

The knights rode in high saddles, covered their horses with housings, and controlled them by means of a bridle consisting of headgear, bit and reins. . The earliest representation is in the parish church at Chetmno and dates from about mid-14th century. . The horsemen have later forms of conical great helms which not only protect the wearer against a horizontal thrust but also provide a glancing surface against a downward blow. . Community

Pathways are dedicated to being a valuable member of the local communities based where we work to provide housing, volunteering opportunities, community projects or grant funding. Since 2004, in Ealing and Brentford Pathways have provided grant funding to small charities and community groups in the local area who work to help disadvantaged people or create stronger bonds between members of the community. In 2014, to celebrate 10 years of grant giving we launched the Hopes and Dreams programme, specifically for the benefit of helping disadvantaged young people in Ealing and Brentford realise and work towards their dreams and aspirations.

Allotments

Pathways provide a large amount of allotment space for the local community at two sites in West Ealing. The two sites are based at Haslemere Avenue and Northfields Avenue. This allotment space contributes to our work to build a stronger community, encourages healthy living and provides the opportunity for people to practice horticulture and urban farming. In total we have approximately 260 plots that we let every year at a very low cost and exclusively to members of the local community, providing a valuable local resource and community asset that encourages community cohesion, and healthy, sustainable living.
